Lakewood Mug Run registration is underway

The Lakewood Mug Run returns to city streets on Saturday, March 13. The the 10K and 5K courses are fast and is ideal for recreational runners pushing their personal best or for deputies making an official qualifying run.

The 10K/5K run will start at 8:00 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. Lakewood families and kids can enjoy a shorter Family Fun Run. Both runs begin at the starting line in front of the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station.

T-shirts will be given to all entrants. Additional race features include accurate mile markers and water stops. Both individual and team awards will be given.

Entertainment includes a visit by Ronald McDonald, public safety displays and post-race refreshments for runners.

Event proceeds will benefit the programs and services for women and girls served by Soroptimist International of Lakewood and Long Beach, abused and neglected children of Los Angeles County through the 999 for Kids Foundation and the Lakewood Sheriff’s “Baker to Vegas” relay team.

Registration

Discounted pre-registration continues through March 4 and is recommended. Links at www.lakewoodmugrun.com will take participants to special event registration pages at the Los Angeles Sheriff's Athletic Association.

10K/5K Race registrations received before March 4 cost only $20. 10K/5K Race day registrations cost $25 and Family Fun Run registrations cost $10.00.

Participants also have the option to register by mail. The event sign-up form is available at the Lakewood Mug Run website. Both sides must be filled out and returned with an entry fee.

The form may also be used for registration on race day. It should be filled out ahead of time submitted with the appropriate race day fees.

Event day registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. Check-in will be located in the Mug Run staging area in the Lakewood Center Mall parking lot directly across from the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station at 5130 Clark Ave, in Lakewood.

About the run

The Lakewood Sheriff’s Station 10K Mug Run is a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Athletic Association sanctioned event. The course starts and finishes at Lakewood Center directly across from the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station.

The run is well marked and tracks along the tree lined streets of the City of Lakewood. Click to see a Google map of the route

The race starts north on Clark Ave, then east on South Street Street, then south on Palo Verde Avenue, west on Harvey Way, north on Woodruff Avene, west on Del Amo Boulevard and north on Faculty Avenue to the finish line adjacent to Home Depot.

The event is the product of a partnership between the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station and Soroptimist International of Lakewood/Long Beach. The partnership continues a tradition of service by bringing the communities of the Lakewood/Long Beach area together for a healthy and fun filled event.
